WHAT SHALL
Why did Peter answer their question the way he did? Peter gave the answer that Jesus himself gave, shouldn't we want the same? If you're question is the same as the frantic crowd why not ask the One who is doing the saving for the answer?
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
How can we know for sure what Jesus meant? We could say He meant what He said and that would be true? But how do we apply His answer to the question asked? Are there any examples that can help us in our desire for salvation? Yes! They are found in the book of Acts. The cases which are recorded represent all the different levels of human society; all the different degrees of intellectual and religious culture; all the common occupations in life, and all the different countries and languages of the then known world. It would seem the design of this is to show the adaptation of the gospel of Christ to the conversion of all classes of people in keeping with what Jesus told them and us to do. Jesus gave the message of salvation, the book of acts interprets exactly what He meant. Thus we again ask the question: "What shall we do?" And, again, we ask you to consider the God inspired answer.
Please consider carefully the following examples of conversion in the book of Acts that are in keeping with what Jesus said, and then decide for yourself What was the answer for the Jews on the day of Pentecost? Acts 2:36-47 What was the answer for the Samaritans? Acts 8:4-12
What was the answer
for the Ethiopian eunuch? Acts 8:25-39
What was the answer
for Cornelius?
What was the answer
for Lydia? What was the answer for the Philippian jailer? Acts 16:16-34 What was the answer for the Corinthians? Acts 18:1-8 What was the answer for the Ephesians? Acts 19:1-5 What is the answer for you?
What shall you do to be saved?
ASK THE ONE
If we can be of help to you in responding to His answer or if you would have questions that you would like further study on, let's talk!
"What shall we do?" is a question asked by a frantic crowd of people who had been listening to Peter preaching about Jesus. They didn't seem to have a problem with realizing there was something they had to do to be saved. Their interpretation of the message was that there was God's part and man's part when it came to salvation.
"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." May your answer be His!
With love in Jesus Christ,
