Families Anonymous
IS FOR ME?

Is concern for your loved one giving you headaches, stomach aches and heartaches, causing you to lie awake with worry? (whatever age)

Are you feeling frustrated in your attempts to control your loved one?

Do you find yourself disapproving of your loved one's lifestyle?

Do you find yourself arguing with your loved one about his or her friends?

Are you finding it increasingly difficult to communicate with and/or trust your child?

Does your child's behavior have you climbing the walls and asking, "Where have I failed?", blaming yourself/spouse for your child's problems?

Do you feel it necessary to protect your loved one because he's/she's unusually sensitive, etc.?

Are you trying to compensate for some family misfortune...divorce, death, illness, etc.?

Are you embarrassed to discuss your situation with your friends or relatives?

Do you find yourself covering up for your loved one, feeling resentful and/or hostile toward them?

Do you worry about your loved one's behavior affecting other members of the family, including the undermining of your marriage?

Do you go from place to place seeking help for your loved one and/or find yourself playing detective, fearful of what you'll find?

If the answer to two or more of these is YES...Families Anonymous could be of help to you!

WHY FAMILIES ANONYMOUS?

Families Anonymous is a group of people much like yourself who have felt the fear and helplessness associated with facing seemingly insolvable problems having to do with drugs, mental illnesses or other behavioral problems of our loved ones..

Most of us had tried counseling, therapy or other ways of handling family crises; but, for whatever reason, couldn't seem to find answers.

At Families Anonymous Meetings we find practical answers by sharing our common experiences, and learn to accept the fact that we are powerless over the lives of others. We are then able to gain control of our own lives again. In doing so, we often positively affect the lives of our loved ones and help them to regain control of their lives.

Amazingly we learn that we can change our own lives and others we can only love.

"I CAN HANDLE THIS ALONE!"
If you can, we're happy for you, but there are many of us who have tried and found that we can't! Rather than suffer endlessly, we have chosen to take a positive step toward turning the situation around and getting back on the road to serenity.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Absolutely nothing! There is no charge for meetings.

WHAT HAPPENS AT MEETINGS?

Someone within the group leads us in sharing our common experiences. Individuals can choose to participate in the discussion or just listen.

No one asks your last name...
No one judges your situation...
No one repeats another's story...

"What We Say Here...Stays Here!"

HOW DOES THIS HELP?

By sharing common experiences and possible solutions, we find that we are not alone in our pain. We learn things to try, actions to explore, things that have worked for others.

Mostly...we find that we are NOT ALONE!

DOES IT ALWAYS WORK?

Unfortunately there are no guarantees that anything works in all cases. However, a positive outlook and understanding of how we can manage our own lives prepares us for any outcome.

YES... THE PROGRAM WORKS!

A Parent: "I thought that I had lost my daughter forever. I hated her life style, and couldn't even look at her without getting angry. Families Anonymous helped me through the trying times, helped me find a way to communicate with her again, and now she's back as a major part of my life. I love my kid again"
-Bob O.- (FA Parent)

A Professional: "Understanding a situation or analyzing a problem is not enough. Therapy in conjunction with Families Anonymous Meetings can reinforce and support avenues for the reduction of anxiety and depression. In a totally nonjudgmental way, Families Anonymous Meetings provide support from others who share common pain and therefore common solutions."
Doris Rosin (Psychologist - Ph.D.)

A Minister: "For years I had always dreaded the 'My kid's in trouble...what can WE do about it?', because I didn't know what WE could do about it! My stomach would tie up in knots as I groped for answers I didn't embarrassingly have! My dread, stomach knots and embarrassments are now gone, thanks to the Families Anonymous Program! Now without hesitation, my first recommendation to any family with any kind of troubles is the Families Anonymous Program."
George Hack (Minister)
